A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is the legally-recognised electronic equivalent of your handwritten signature. Issued under the Information Technology Act, 2000 by Licensed Certifying Authorities (eMudhra, Capricorn, Sify, NSDL, e-Mudhra and a handful of others), a DSC is mandatory for filing with MCA (company registration, ROC returns), GST (e-invoicing for high-turnover taxpayers), Income Tax (audit reports, transfer pricing), DGFT (IEC), EPFO, ESIC, and every government e-tender portal.
DSCs come in two classes: Class 2 (deprecated since 2021) and Class 3. Class 3 is the only valid class today for any government, tender or MCA filing. Class 3 DSCs come in Signing-only (for documents, ROC, IT) and Sign + Encrypt (for tenders, GeM, e-procurement). For RegisterEase, the default recommendation is Class 3 Signing + Encryption with a 2-year validity USB token — works for every filing need a founder will ever face.
RegisterEase issues your DSC in 1–2 working days via Aadhaar-based e-KYC — fully paperless, no notary, no physical verification. Our process: you fill a 1-page application, complete an Aadhaar OTP-based video KYC, choose Signing-only or Sign+Encrypt, and your DSC is dispatched as an encrypted USB token to your address. We also handle DGFT-Class 3, IRDA-Class 3 and Foreign DSCs for NRI directors.
Many DIY DSC applications get rejected because of small mismatches between PAN, Aadhaar and bank records — typically address or name spelling. Our experts pre-check your KYC data against UIDAI, PAN database and CKYC and resolve any issues before submission, achieving a 99.6% first-time approval rate. We also help with DSC renewal (cannot be revived after expiry — must reissue), token unlock if you forget the PIN, and encryption certificate recovery.
A Class 3 DSC is required for: company incorporation (directors), every annual ROC filing (AOC-4, MGT-7), DIN application, ITR filing for companies and audited businesses, GST registration & e-invoicing, IEC issuance, GeM listing, every government e-tender, DGFT exports, IRDA insurance broker registration, and EPF/ESIC employer login. Without a valid DSC, you simply cannot transact with the government online.
